Blog Review

July 30, 2004

I’ve been reading a lot of blogs lately, n’ I think these commendable efforts deserve mention, even if it has to be done on my not-so-frequently-visited-blog 😉

The best ‘read’ I’ve ever come across on blogspot is undoubtedly “Why we don’t get any…” on Sidin’s Blog, which has many more other interesting reads, replete with humor.. I desist from writing more, as professional reviews of this blog have been done, like this one.

In other blogs, I particularly like this one which wuz spurred by my ISKCON post. Overall, the blog exhibits excellent literature, narration, content, judgement n’ matured thought process at the same time, even if I’m not qualified to say so.

Leaving literature aside.. some other really notable posts: There’s this one which my pal Ashik put up recently, which is the best ‘write’ in my opinion. Then there’s this post which features talented documentation of instructions on how to set up.. what you’ll find out when you read 😉

Hmm.. there are others which I’ve really liked, but they’re all *private* blogs, so I’m not allowed to publish their URLs.. for now, I guess this much should make happy reading! 🙂
If there’s anyone jobless enough out there to review my blog, he/she is welcome to do it n’ give me the URL, or just do it here. THANKS! 🙂

Lance vs. Schumi

Probably the best article I’ve ever read in a long time.. it felt as if the words were flowing out from MY fingertips, n’ not Frank Hopkinson’s!

ISKCON

July 28, 2004

Spurred by the Anon comment.. I state again, “ISKCON is crap”. Tho’ their basics are good- relating science n’ our beliefs, they totally stray away from the word ‘Hindu’ n’ try to sell their ‘creation’ [humbug], which is nothin’ new.. to people of any religion. Altho’ what they suggest to follow [Bhagavad Gita] is arguably the best guide to Life, their ultimate advice of trying to attain perfection n’ leave this world to go to Krsna Loka is very impractical n’ misleading. Its very obviously directed at the white-skinned population of the world with the objective of them viewing it as ‘COOL’ n’ it bein’ ‘happening!’ n’ the ‘in thing’. Well, I just don’t buy it. They’re trying to market the same thing after removing ‘polytheism’, ‘cuz thats what non-Hindus find most revolting about our religion. But thats wrong. n’ Krsna is not the Only One as they make it out to be. All-in-all, ISKCON is NOT the ‘sanaathana dharma’.

For readers: I did not reach this conclusion overnight. I’ve attended numerous sessions of ISKCON held by a “qualified” guy, who used to conduct them at our college

Workin’ late

July 28, 2004

Left home at 12.30 a.m. today.. PM ordered a Pan-4-All for us from Pizza Hut! Today he ate early, so we’ve ordered fried rice n’ gravy from Nandhini Palace! 🙂 Testing like dogs.. but I’m enjoyin’ the work. Came to office late today.. at 11 a.m.

Don’t have much to write, except that Sangram’s back after a fortnight at home.. we had lunch together after a long while. Went to a new place called Inswing near BDA Complex, which is good.. Great chapathis n’ curry n’ rice too, for Rs.35. Has lotsa cricket posters around, but its tolerable. Well.. I’ve got my leave on Aug 2nd approved, so I’ll be home for 3 days. Its been almost 2 months since I went home 🙂 Its Achan’s 60th b’day.. so we’ll be gallivanting to temples n’ stuff. Wonderin’ what to buy him.. Any suggestions? Please comment! Thanx..

Doings

July 27, 2004

Had a nice weekend.. a junior came from college n’ we went with Deepu n’ Anoop to the ISKCON temple at Rajaji Nagar, which is at the other corner of Bangalore. We also visited a Hanuman temple there. ISKCON is an OK kinda place. except for Pizza Prasad i.e.! Wuz stunned to see them selling doughnuts, pizzas n’ puffs. Totally commercialized.. Confirms my suspicions about ISKCON being crap. We got caught in torrential rain on the way. Came back n’ went to Forum. Dined at Aiwa’s n’ dropped the junior off at the Madivala bus stop.

On Sunday, Deepu n’ I escaped when they started the telecast of that crappy game on TV. We went to lunch at the JP Nagar Mess n’ then to Abins’ house, where we met Lazith n’ Lizath.. 🙂 Planned to catch a beer at J-Cube, the pub near BDA Complex, but stopped short of the sign which said ‘Watch India Pakistan match LIVE on big screen‘ n’ decided to ditch n’ go home. Went for Spiderman 2 in the evening with Anoop n’ Chandra to Multiplex. Really superb movie. Its got it all.. action, grafix, love n’ senti in the perfect fix. I really loved it.. Came back n’ attempted to see delayed telecast of the Hockenheim GP, but they showed the results, n’ Kimi didn’t figure in it.. so I ditched it n’ went off to sleep. Good for DC, tho’!

Y’day, Dejice picked me up from office to take me home. He wanted to see my new guitar, which left him impressed. We went with Deepu, Ashok n’ Yasas to Hyderabad House, where I had a veg. biriyani. Got back home n’ Dejice left. Soon Rakesh n’ Jithesh came over.. They were out for a break. We went with Pattar to Swarnaloka. Anoop n’ Ashok joined me to give ’em company. We weren’t in a mood to booze, it being a weekday, so I just had my standard Romanov large n’ we chatted while they drank.. Went back home n’ I played a lot of songs while Yasas sang them.. Wonderwall, Hotel C, Unforgiven, Mama Said, Low Man’s Lyric, Don’t Cry, One Last Breath, the Pretty Woman OST by Roxette, Aenipadi to Swargam [Stairway to Heaven], Lake of Fire, Man who sold the world, 2 Steps Behind, Blaze of Glory.. wuz great!

Thunderklutz!

July 23, 2004

Spungentus slowly got to his feet from his hot water bath n’ reluctantly dried himself with his favorite pink turkish towel. He yawned, looked at himself in the mirror n’ caught sight of the reflection of the clock on the opposite wall. The hands showed 8 o’ clock. ‘DARN! I’m going to be late again!’, he yelled.

Now, I bet you’re thinking who in hell would put a clock in his bathroom, but that was exactly it. Btw, If you weren’t thinking that, well.. I guess you could identify with ‘Spungy’, as his enemies called him affectionately. He was like that. A totally indisclipined goon, was Spungy.

Scratching himself at his armpits, Spungy flopped back down into the bathtub. ‘Screw it. I’m not going!‘, he thought as he groped around on the bottom of the top for the bar of soap he’d absent-mindedly dropped in, instead of into the soap holder he had beside the tub. He found it, dropped it characteristically, picked it up again n’ leisurely proceeded to lather himself with it, humming tunelessly..

A flash of light! n’ then..
‘KRRRRRAAACCCKKK!!!’

The lights went out.

What happened afterward, I leave to your imagination. Its past 8 p.m. n’ I’ve to go home.. TGIF!
