Ferrari stinks

July 31, 2006
Its funny when losers win.. and winners lose. KR was undeniably the Star of the Race and would’ve won if not for the fudged pit-stop. OK, thats enough about F1.

I bought a wristband this weekend, among other things. Though its supposed to be just a sweatband, it really helps my tennis, keeping my wrist steady. My top-spin forehands seldom find the net now and my backhands aren’t loose anymore. I can’t wait for today evening, to see how it affects my baddy.

Also got a pump to inflate the football (got the pin from the Adidas people) and I’ve to refill my cycle’s flat too. Watched a hilarious movie y’day night before I went off to sleep.

Return

July 24, 2006
The particles of dust lazily rolled over one another
In the sunbeam filtering in through the skylight
Wafting gently over the cobbled stones
As the hours passed by, the pool of white

The boy lay still with his arms over his belly
A gentle wind stole through the crack in the door
The file he held fell open unbidden and
Let all its sheets flutter down to the floor

He started to a tune that entered uninvited
It sounded to him familiar, albeit faraway
His eyes, now open, revealed brown round wet pupils
They looked unaccustomed to the light of day

He lay in quite the same position unbudging
It seemed he’d awoken not after a short while
His disturbed eyes darted this way and that
And caused wonder, was this really his style?

As if in answer to his unasked question
Past the skylight sped a flash of blue and red
It went much faster than a speeding bullet
And for a brief moment the boy was blinded.

Was it a bird?
Was it a plane?
No, it was shejuan!!!

Watch out for this rural cousin of the wall-crawler- the friendly woodland superhero. However, he responds only to birdsong. Probably a good choice to partner Krrish. Coming soon to a village near you! 🙂

While the team photo session was in progress, he fled the scene to save some SNMP (Simple Nitrified Manure Product) leaf objects in distress. Here he is caught descending from his verdant abode with a sheepish grin.

Fatty leaves..

God has answered my prayers (The one up above, not FedEx 🙂 Monty is leaving. No more sabotage from within the team. de la Rosa will do a better job undoubtedly. Go Pedro!

FedEx delivered!

July 10, 2006
I think Ramsay’s article says it all. The first set was pure revenge by God. It was evident (unusually) in his eyes and in the way he fought for each point, something he doesn’t ordinarily do. The next two sets were brilliant. But what made me truly appreciate Nadal was the way he broke Fed’s serve when the latter was serving for the c’ship 5-1 up in the last set. That attitude will surely see him to great heights.

However, I still believe Rafa didn’t get a tough draw at SW19. I also believe that you cannot judge the quality of a player by the score he loses to God by. I’d love to see Rafa play Ancic, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt, Nalbandian, Gasquet, Grosjean, etc. If he beats them all (hope so!), I will acknowledge that he really is the No.2 on grass. Till then, I will empathise with him just as I do with any other guy who encountered the Fed Express.

Italy bt. France but even though Zizou stooped to low levels, he still won the Golden Ball for almost single-handedly taking Les Bleus through to the final. For me, Germany played the best soccer this WC. Schweinsteiger was just amazing in their match against Portugal. All in all, a very decent weekend unspoiled by an F1 race (another disappointing McLaren performance I just couldn’t have digested), spent in the company of my dad n’ mom. They came on Sat’day and left y’nite. Chechi n’ nephew will hopefully visit next wknd. 🙂

Baggy Boy

July 7, 2006
I hate Hewitt (for dumping Kim, for using a Yonex and for shouting on court)- I just wanted him to beat Baggy so he could blow away Nadal next with his “COME ON” calls. But I watched the spaniard’s match y’day and I don’t want him humiliated anymore. I liked the way he played (he’s really improved on grass- you can’t make mincemeat of Jarkko unless you’re really good!), but more the way he acknowledged that Federer is the King of Grass.

His ego is where it should be and he’s learnt to behave better on court. However, I still want him beaten and put in place by the hugely-talented Baggy, who’s playing like he did at Melbourne earlier this year. Baggy’s approach shots are beginning to resemble God’s (Fed is my God) and the guy is just.. soo.. loveable! “Marco eisai trella, me thn asprh thn fanella!” (Marcos you are crazy, wearing the white shirt)

Photo Finnish!

July 6, 2006
This World Cup has been reduced to a mere farce. All a team has to do to win against an equally-matched opponent is to somehow get the ball into (or near) the D, near a defender and then fall down feigning a foul. A penalty (or free kick) will be awarded by the inevitable bad referee call. Somehow, its the deserving teams that always lose. Ricardo is such a great goalkee.. n’ Barthez is a moron.

France did it to Spain and now they’ve repeated it against Portugal. Italy did it to Australia. I’m off soccer. Jai Wimby! Fed bt. Ancic and Marcos bt. Hewitt 🙂 Here are a couple of excellent articles by Alix Ramsay about Fed and Baggy. I just hope the latter thrashes Nadal, if he makes it past the Finn whom he will face today (god forbid!).

FLIP!

July 3, 2006
Ferrari 1-2.. Aaarrrggghhhh!!! Monty is just catastrophic to McLaren. Tho’ he’s exciting, I’d prefer him entertaining somewhere else.. I just hope Dennis has the sense to KICK his ass out of his silver car next year to keep the Finn in. ’07 will be reminiscent of ’88 then and Tifosi the world over will quake with fear. That’ll be the day 🙂

France performed beyond my expectations to beat Brazil, to my pleasant surprise. For that, I might even back them against Deutschland (who I hope thulp the Azzurri in their next match). Scolari put one over Eriksson and his decision of turning down England’s offer was amply rewarded. Ricardo did well, but not as well as Lehmann against Argentina. 😮

Of my Wimby faves, there are quite a few still left: Fed (of course), Ancic, Jarkko the Finn, Tursunov, Hewitt, Baghdatis and Murray. I couldn’t watch any of the matches ‘cuz they were playing that f***ed up game on other sports channels.

Can Baby Goran do a ’02 to overthrow the Fed Express? I hope not. I watched a part of a Fed documentary, where they played the highlights of his epic Wimby ’01 3r match, where he ousted the defending champion, Sampras. Awe-inspiring, to say the least..
