With the advent of the iPod, I bade goodbye to Winamp (I can hear Juan rejoicing). No more [Listening to..] tags at the end of each post until wbloggar comes up with an iTunes plugin. Or have they? Oh yes!

Shaavi and I slept in the new place y’nite, an hour after the CFLs were installed in every visible bulb socket, the apartment bare otherwise.

Today is gonna be the day that Jopesh’s gonna throw all the things in
By now he should’ve somehow got the sofa set and table for dinin’
I don’t believe that anybody feels the way he does about us now

Back beat, Woodrose across the street is the club that eats our heart out
I’m sure you’ve heard it all before but you’ve never seen it sprout
I don’t believe that anybody feels the way I do about it now

And all the roads we have to walk are potholed
And all the lights that are to lead us there are fused
There are many things that can be improved in Puttenahalli
But I don’t know how

Because maybe
BDA’s gonna be the one that saves me
And after all
Across the road is Fabmall

Rock-a-bye villager, on the roof top,
When the mafia kills, the mattress will rock,
When the cop inquires, the mafia will fall,
Down will come mafia, godfather and all.

Hari called me up when I was reading Palahniuk’s “Fight Club” in my favorite place, “Hello beggar, where are you?”. “In the toilet”, I replied. “Oh shit!”, he said. “Literally!” 🙂

Kimi would’ve finished second y’day if his car hadn’t blown up, yet again. I’m happy I didn’t watch the race. I’m even happier Schumi got relegated to the back of the grid beside his teammate (even if he did finish in the points). Down with Ferrari. Better Renault than them (not any day, but definitely in 2006!). Monty did me proud for a change though.

Shaavi and I went to meet Mr. Jopesh. Thanks to our latest -esh fad and my typo which Hari espied, thats what we’ve re-christened the erstwhile Mr. Joseph, the owner of our house-to-be-and-almost-is. He drove in from Cochin with his wife and reached only at 6 p.m. yesterday instead of on Sat’day morning when we were expecting him.

Fortunately, Shaavi’s to join IBM only a fortnight later, so he’s doing the formalities on our behalf (Hari and I) today at Jopesh’s office in Cantonment- signing agreement, buying furniture and fittings, getting clubhouse membership, etc.

Chubby and I plan to leave early to shift in the stuff. I just can’t wait to sit out in our balcony on the sixth floor and feel the cool breeze against my handsome face. And of course not have to go all over Bangalore in search of a tennis court to play on and finally get booted out of St. John’s (‘cuz only ‘members’ can play) and J. P. Nagar Club (‘cuz of some overenthusiastic old geezers who can’t decently restrict their bone-stretching to weekdays).

Thankfully, we did play (courtesy Chubby’s m’ship at BTM Metro Club), even if it was on a leaves-strewn unmarked clay court. Felt good to trade shots with Hari (Ramakrishnan- my junior- tennis partner at RECT) after such a looong time. Meanwhile, the other Hari’s posted more about our Cochin trip, replete with photos!

Cochin Trip

May 25, 2006
Went with Hari, Gaurav, Aravind and Avinash. We couldn’t make it to Munnar as planned, but we substituted it with eventful boat trips and a pilgrimage to Guruvayoor (which included a visit to Punnathurkotta to check out the elephants). I don’t have more time to blog about it thanks to my hectic work schedule, so check out Hari’s blog for more details!

I know I say this before every weekend, but McLaren has been beaten each time by the superior speed of Ferrari and Renault. However, I’ll say it again shamelessly. I believe this is the weekend when they break the duck with the street circuit at Monaco, if the practice times are anything to go by (they usually aren’t 😦 ). Go Kimi, Go Monty!!

They stopped giving me..

May 17, 2006
..the goodies after I won some caps. I was at LoR (Legends of Rock) to watch the last two races. They didn’t go favorably, but I won the qualifying (kingfisher-style) both times. With a straw, I beat a Ferrari and a Renault fan bottom-sipping a mugga. I also answered a few questions. The caps were all red, so I gave ’em off to my companions. Darsan was here last weekend and the entire CTS Chennai gang the weekend before that.

I’m suffering from gas problems and I sure hope it doesn’t act up on my way to Cochin on Sat’day. I’m going with Hari, Gaurav, Aravind and Avinash. We’ll be hitting Munnar in Achan’s car and spending Monday night there in all probability. A boat trip with a visit to the Jewish synagogue (as per Hari’s wishes) is on the cards. When I was home two weeks ago, I went courtesy Sealand and we espied the dolphins again, now its summer.

Life is good. We (project team) went karting y’day. I lapped everyone except Adarsh, who was good competition. I started behind him n’ overtook him within one lap and held the lead, passing my PM who acted as an effective backmarker when Adarsh caught him at a later turn, giving me a sizeable advantage in the process. We followed it up with dinner at Airavath. Work is quite hectic, but manageable. I got an iPod-cassette adapter to play music in Chubby’s car, so we have a nice drive to and from office everyday.

Neville quit and we gave him a fitting farewell, Serious Sam-style. Surprisingly, I emerged a dominant force though Patil, Ara and GDJ were as good as ever. I wielded the knife as Chaddi-man (Boxer Barry) and backstabbed a satisfactory number of persons. Hehe. AnandRV is in town for a week. We scouted around for rackets, but the Pro Staff Classic, Tour and 6.0 aren’t available, so I didn’t buy. Hari, Avinash and I will hopefully be moving into a 2 BHK @ Brigade Millenium come June. The swimming pool n’ courts (tennis, b’ball n’ baddy) at Woodrose Club House await us..

Chubby’s new car

May 5, 2006
Chubby bought an Indica Turbo Diesel last week and we’re car-pooling. 🙂 No more RadioShitty!! I’m just dying to buy the iPod cassette adapter (and Chubby said he’ll buy rear speakers) to start ripping some Linkin Park. The car looks hot (after all its modelled after the A-class and apparently uses Merc paint). The engine is new and thumps a good 68 bhp (5 bhp more than the Palio-D which is my fave diesel car), but Petroboys kick ass!

Meanwhile, I’m gearing up for a McLaren 1-3 on Sunday. Sadly, I don’t expect Monty to drive well enough to keep FA at bay. Vineesh’s return has been postponed a month. Shaavi has ditched his plans to take CFA Level 2. Its fun going back home these days, now that he’s there for company. Moved the Powerhouse back to the hall (the bedroom fan’s conked out permanently- its been two months since it worked last).
